Urban Landscapes

From choosing a subject to deciding on a print, I want a continuous relationship with an image. Large format is making the practical gaps in that ambition very clear.

The subject is the brief relationship between a street lamp and the light around it. My project notes begin with when to return.

15 photographs. River channels, motel facades, parked aircraft, and the spaces beside the road. A growing selection of photographs of the built landscape.

11 photographs. Lakes, mountains, and the roads between them. This selection begins in the Eastern Sierra, with autumn color and fresh snow from the Mammoth trip.

8 photographs. Aspen trunks, moving water, fallen leaves, and a bird on a wire. Close observations from the mountains and the everyday.

4 photographs. Photographs collected along the way: a Yellowstone landscape, a Montana night sky, winter roadsides, and a companion in the snow. Film and digital pictures from the travel archive.
